DOCUMENTATION FOR MATHMIX Version 2.0
Syntax: MATHMIX [yourname [speed]] <RETURN>
"Yourname" stands for, simply your name, and "speed" stands for a
a number between 1 (slow) and 10000 (fast) depicting the
speed of the game. "<RETURN>" simply means to press the "ENTER"
or "RETURN" key. You may like to experiment with the speed,
since 9000 on a 12MHZ PC is not the same as 9000 on a 4.77MHZ PC.
The default for "speed" is 8000. You cannot specify "speed" without
specifing "yourname" also.
Requirements: IBM PC or 100% compatible/w 64K
Explanatory:
Once you have booted up (started) MATHMIX, you select the level of
difficulty (or Quit) by using the up and the down arrow keys.
You can also select the type of math by pressing the left and
the right pointing arrow keys. After you have selected the level of
difficulty and the type of math, press <RETURN>. (See the "SYNTAX"
paragraph) A flashy screen will appear. It will contain four math
problems, 2 colored bars which play no part but just enhance the
look and feel of MathMix, a C (or O), a smiley face, and an answer.
The answer is at the very bottom of the screen. Most of the math
problems at the top of the screen should be composed of numbers
which have as many digits as the numerical level of difficulty.
How to Play:
Move the smiley face around the green chomper (the C or O) using the
diagonal arrow keys. (it is suggested that you keep the key down and
let it repeat on it's own. It is also advised to use the diagonal
keys) Maneuver your smiley face under the correct problem and press
the space bar. (You can't shoot until you get to the half-way point
on the playing area) If the computer doesn't tell you
'Congratulations!', try a different problem and press the space bar.
If the chomper gets you, don't get frustrated, try again or slow the
program down with the "speed" parameter on the command line. If for
any reason would you like to pause the program, press ESC. To
restart the game, press ESC again. A round is made out of 5 (five)
games. At the end of each round the computer will ask whether you
would like to play another round. Answer it by typing (Y)es, (N)o, or
the <ESC> key. (N)o and the <ESC> key do the same thing.
